"There exists a time in which you will have written this book...

I know none of this seems very believable. It probably doesn't even make sense. But for once in your life, please, I am asking you to trust me. Trust yourself."  (101, How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe)

You're trapped in a closed loop with only one way to go. I know you're feeling hopeless because I've felt that way once before too. But I want you to look back to your past and see everything you've done. There's no use in regretting about the past if you can't move toward the future.

Do you remember the time machine? Your father created that to bring hope and joy to YOU. So that you could live a life that was much better than his own. Remember all those nights your father played with his food? He was thinking about you, and the future that you would have. The time machine wasn't simply a "way out". You and he spent countless hours on the contraption together and he knew that you were the key. You were the one who inspired the original idea of the time machine. You, Charles, gave your father the hope of a new life. He knew that if anyone could actually do it, you could.

Do you remember that fateful day when he proposed his idea to the director? You hadn't seen father so excited for a day like this in years. This day comes once in a blue moon and nothing seemed to be able to ruin it. Except that everything that could go wrong did go wrong. The time machine didn't work, the director was becoming impatient and the dream of a new future slipped away from your hands. But you know what? He knew that the time machine wasn't going to work. It took me a while to realize this (I wouldn't have figured it out without TAMMY) but your father could see what was going to happen.

And you know what? He kept a smile on his face. The fact that the time machine didn't work was infinitesimally small compared to spending his time with you. There's nothing else in the world he could've asked for. But you were too busy staring at the father and son playing ball in the park. You left your father, awkwardly sitting in the time machine fumbling at the controls without any help. And if you ask me, that's the main reason he left you and mom. He couldn't stand the fact that he couldn't be the father that he wanted to be. Remember that night he broke into tears staring at the picture of his father? He regretted that he couldn't be like his father, that he couldn't impact you. Remember that night your father left you and your mother alone in this world forever? I do.

I remember this night because I am you. And what haunts me the most now is that I never tried. I never tried to learn from his mistakes. I never tried to make a difference in my life. Since then, like mom, I'm stuck in my own time loop, unable to stop regretting the events of the past. But through this journey I've learned that regretting and not taking action doesn't get me anywhere. I have to learn from his mistakes and mine to make the best of the future he's given me.

Please, stop pondering on the past and move forward. Find your father and make amends. Find "The Woman You Never Married" and make up for lost time.
